Mr Gileno completed the 21km Run for a Reason and raised more than $4000 for the organisation.

He said the family were “shocked” when his sister-in-law Janine, a mother of two, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

“All I kept thinking was that I wanted to do something to help and seeing as running has always helped me health-wise, I decided I would run in this year’s half-marathon – both for Janine and for myself,” he said.

Mr Gileno trained for five months and lost 12kg to raise money for the charity that provides personalised practical, financial and emotional support to WA people affected by breast cancer.
