Dirt gate: Perth Brownes Dairy will bring back YoGo Dirt Dessert if enough people protest next Friday

A SPOKESWOMAN for Brownes Dairy said they would bring back the YoGo Dirt Dessert if enough people show up to a planned protest next Friday (July 20).

Perth woman Caroline Elisabeth started a petition to bring back the Dirt Dessert.

Brownes Dairy Sales and Marketing Director Natalie Sarich-Dayton said they welcome Dirt Dessert fans planning to protest.

Ms Sarich-Dayton said the intense interest in the product has piqued the interest of the WA company.

“The public love for Brownes YoGo Dirt Dessert doesn’t surprise us – we loved it too,” she said.

“Dirt Dessert is truly unique – it featured a base of chocolate crumble ‘dirt’ and soft gooey marshmallows covered with Brownes’ delicious chocolate YoGo.

“Since it was discontinued five years ago there have been online petitions but the protest is taking their commitment to the next level.

“We will meet with the protestors and hear their argument to bring back YoGo Dirt Dessert.

“If there is enough demand – through an online petition and supporters’ attendance – we will consider bringing YoGo Dirt Dessert back for a trial period.”

At its peak, Western Australians devoured 12,000 tubs of Brownes YoGo Dirt Dessert each week.

Brownes is currently unable to make Dirt Dessert due to needing to source new suppliers for marshmallows – a key ingredient in the product.

“I can confirm Brownes is actively working to try and find a new marshmallow supplier,” Ms Sarich-Dayton said.

“We’re hoping we can resurrect YoGo Dirt Dessert during the first half of 2019. However, the viability of this depends on community demand.”

Brownes Dairy is located at 22 Geddes Street, Balcatta. Details of the YoGo Dirt Dessert protest on Friday, July 20 at 2pm can be found on Facebook.
