Doubleview Primary relocation site abandoned

Kate LeaverStirling Times

Education Minister Peter Collier confirmed Doubleview Primary School had been a potential site for the International School but was no longer an option.

A City of Stirling spokeswoman confirmed a development application had been lodged but was later withdrawn by the applicant.

Mr Collier said the Department was considering several other options but did not reveal where.

“As part of planning for a future western suburbs high school, part of the Doubleview Primary School site was considered as a possible location for the International School of WA, which is currently on the old City Beach High School site,” he said.

The former City Beach Senior High School was closed a decade ago because of declining student numbers, with the ISWA currently leasing it from the Government.

Mr Collier announced in October last year that a 2000-capacity “state-of-the-art” school would open in 2019 at one of four locations: the Skyline site linked to the old City Beach Senior High School; vacant land at Fred Burton Park; the corner of The Boulevard and West Coast Highway or Rochdale and Wollaston roads.
