Doubleview stalwart celebrates centenary

WELL-KNOWN Doubleview local Dorothy Lewis has marked her 100th birthday at her much-loved bowling club.

Friends from Doubleview Bowling Club’s knitting group hosted a morning tea to celebrate Mrs Lewis’ milestone last month.

Long-time friend and State opposition leader Liza Harvey also attended.

The centenarian, who has four children, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, has been active in the community for the past 45 years.

She was formerly deputy principal at Scarborough Primary School, a past president and bowler at Doubleview Bowling Club, past Northern Shores Probus Club president and Scarborough Senior Citizens Club.

Mrs Lewis had been living independently until May, when she moved to an aged care facility in Carine, where she entertains fellow residents on the grand piano.
