Enjoy old-fashioned, eco picnic

Staff ReporterStirling Times

People are being encouraged to think globally and act locally on March 28, and turn off all non-essential lights and electronic devices.

Eco Faeries will work in conjunction with the City of Stirling on Saturday, with storytelling, juice making and family games on offer.

Farie Cara, from Eco Faeries, encouraged everyone to attend the free event and stressed the importance of coming together as a community without the distraction of electronic devices.

‘Putting this on, I wanted to take away that stuff we’ve got used to and come together like we did once upon a time and tell stories, play games, share food and enjoy the scenery,’ Cara said.

‘I thought it would be good to get families involved but rather than think about it as climate action, they can think about how they can make it relevant to their community.’

The public are encouraged to bring glass jars, which will be converted into lanterns during a workshop and lit at sunset.

The Power Down Picnic is from 4.30pm-7.30pm at Clarko Reserve, Trigg.
