Scarborough Police Station officer-in-charge Neville Patterson said after being given an estimate of 8000 attendees, police had trouble with the crowd of more than 12,000.
‘Crowd numbers caused concern for us because an initial estimate from the City of Stirling was that it would draw a crowd of 8000,’ Senior Sergeant Patterson said. ‘It was an unlicensed event but there were a lot of people that had brought their own alcohol, so we were constantly asking people to dispose of their alcohol and respect the fact it was an alcohol-free event.’
City of Stirling arts and events co-ordinator Glenn Watson said the City had taken into account the concerns police and the public raised.
