A SCARBOROUGH man charged with child exploitation offences will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on January 12.
In December 2016, Western Australia and Federal Police’s Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) commenced an investigation into the 61-year-old man for allegedly taking inappropriate photographs of girls.
JACET is a taskforce formed to combat online child exploitation, as part of a collaborative and coordinated national platform for policing agencies to address the abhorrent activity associated with child exploitation.
Detectives executed a search warrant on December 16, 2016, at a Scarborough property where a computer and electronic storage devices were found.
It will be alleged that the devices belonged to the man and analysis of the devices identified images of child exploitation material.
According to Police, it is believed some of the images were taken while the man was employed as a Physical Education teacher at a public high school.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to analyse information obtained from the seized storage devices.
Detectives will make contact with victims as they are identified.
