DRIVERS are urged to take advantage of a free initiative in Innaloo to reduce licence plate theft.

Scarborough police will team up with Bunnings Innaloo staff to supply and fit anti-theft screws to number plates on November 14 and November 15 from 10am to 2pm.

Senior Sergeant Craig Wanstall said licence plates were frequently stolen.

“Police encourage members of the community to bring their vehicles to Bunnings Innaloo and have anti-theft number plate screws attached to their number plates in an attempt to reduce this crime,” he said.

“Number plates are stolen and attached to vehicles which are used in the commission of offences.”
