FROM an a cappella competition to a Jackson family tribute and the hottest comedy acts, the Sunset Veranda line-up promises a sizzling summer in Scarborough.

The City of Stirling announced last week it was replacing the annual Summerset Arts Festival with the month-long Sunset Veranda as part of Fringe World Festival.

Brighton Reserve will host a variety of shows from January 18 to February 17 under the Big Top circus tent and people are welcome to enjoy the seaside atmosphere at the pop-up bar.

The program released today reveals a varied line-up with shows and activities for all ages and plenty of free events.

There are plenty of comedy acts including identical twins The Stevenson Experience, Cam Knight, Scarborough’s Colin Ebsworth, Matt Hale, Famous Sharron and the popular Comedy Gala returns with an array of international and local comedians.

Things will heat up with cabaret performances such as AphroZodiac by Lady Velvet Cabaret, while Movin’ Melvin Brown will get people tapping their toes when he channels Chuck Berry and The Jackson Tribute Show featuring music by Janet and Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 is sure to entertain.

Children are well catered for with a puppet show, art and craft activities, science fun at Magnus’ Explosion Laboratory and the Let it Go sing-along and dance party.

Other events not to be missed are Perth’s first a cappella competition Pitch Slapped, the Boogie Shoes Silent Disco Walking Tour and the all ages fancy dress party Summer’s Last Stand to close the festival.
