Funding keeps Doubleview community centre afloat

A DOUBLEVIEW community centre is continuing thanks to State Government funding.

West Stirling Neighbourhood House has another five years funding from the Department of Communities’ Empowering Communities Program.

It will use the $120,000 annual funds to pay for two staff and utilities at the Hancock Street facility.

The non-profit organisation is run by a volunteer management committee and caters to more than 150 families per week.

It co-ordinates 10 weekly playgroups, hosts the monthly repair cafe, community workshops and child health services, and offers hire space for small group meetings, consultations and children’s birthday parties.
