The organisation has been operating in Perth for 93 years, providing services to the West Australian community and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve their full potential.

Program Co-ordinator Cathy Stubbs said the organisation offered scholarships each year, the most recent going to four students at Lockridge Senior High School, as well as ran the Every Girl and the Encore Program for breast cancer survivors.

‘Encore is an eight-week program designed specifically for women who have experienced breast cancer,’ she said.

The program incorporates gentle exercise to help restore mobility, flexibility and confidence and our program assists in boosting self-esteem, self-image and health and well-being.’

Community Newspaper Group sales manager Melinda Prinsloo said the YWCA did exceptional work in the community and as a newspaper it was important to give back to community groups.

‘We asked all our loyal advertisers to get onboard so that we could donate to this worthy cause.’

The organisation will hold a Christmas family friendly event on Sunday with proceeds going to its programs.
