Guns stolen from Anzac commemoration

Belinda CiprianoStirling Times

THE President of the RSL's Osborne Park sub branch Norm Wells has labelled the thieves who stole two .303 Lee Enfield rifles minutes before the sub-branch's Anzac Day service on Saturday as mongrels.

Mr Wells said the guns were bolted to lectern that he wheeled outside the RSL's base on Main Street in time for the 6.45am service.

"At the end of the service my son asked me where we placed the guns, as they were no longer there," Mr Wells said.

"He thought we put it away for safe keeping."
