The Carine Primary School student has been nominated as a HBF Junior Sports Hero for her sporting talent, vibrant personality and ability to maintain a well-rounded lifestyle.
Crystal was introduced to swimming at the age of five, when she went through the State swim program.
She not only learnt how to swim competently, but excelled through all the levels.
Her mother, Jo Edwards, decided to sign her up to the West Coast Swimming Club, so she could continue to pursue swimming at a competitive level.
‘She did her first interschool carnival earlier in the year and broke three records,’ Mrs Edwards said. Crystal’s most recent record was set at the Lesmurdie Legends 2013 Winter Carnival in the 200m breaststroke (girl’s 9 years) which she swam in a time of 1:37.22.
For the past three years, she has been breaking records at numerous West Coast Swim club competitions.
