PHOTOGRAPHS, news articles and personal stories from Innaloo shopping centre’s 50-year history are on display this month.

The 19m-long historical exhibition was launched at Westfield Innaloo ahead of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

Inaugural centre manager Maurice Fawcett, Westfield WA centre group regional manager Kate Holsgrove and Stirling mayor Mark Irwin led celebrations on November 10, which was followed by a weekend of activities for shoppers.

The centre opened on November 13, 1967 and at the time was the largest suburban shopping centre with 30 stores, anchored by Boans department store.

The display was made with help from the City of Stirling and features old newspaper advertisements and articles, photos of the centre and residents’ personal recollections.

Find it at the centre near Foot Locker until mid-December.
