JDAP approves amendments to Karrinyup Shopping Centre development

Kristie LimStirling Times

MODIFIED changes to the Karrinyup Shopping Centre $600 million development project were amended by the Metro North-West Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) on Wednesday.

The applicants, Rowe Group, proposed several internal amendments to the approved detailed landscaping and site management plans to the major expansion site on Davenport Site.

Parking changes included the removal of a portion of the basement level three eastern parking bays and all of the western bays, and additional parking along the northern portion of the site at basement levels one and two to replace the lost bays.

An expanded parking area would be located in closer proximity to the main street due to the loss of bays on basement level three.

There would be a reconfiguration of the internal mall alignments and the subsequent reconfiguration of a number of internal tenancies to allow for better division of shop types.

Minor changes to the building and pedestrian access at the intersection of the Main Street and Karrinyup Road was also amended.

JDAP members including Stirling City Council mayor Giovanni Italiano and councillor David Boothman voted unanimously for the amendments.

The development application for a major expansion of Karrinyup Shopping Centre was approved by JDAP in August last year and the current development approval expires on August 14, 2019.
