Karrinyup: police searching for thief thwarted by screwed down tip jar

A THIEF who attempted to steal a tip jar from a Karrinyup shop was stopped in his tracks because it was secured to the counter.

About 2.30pm on January 11, a man entered the Karrinyup Road business and attempted to steal the tip jar and a staff member said they heard coins falling to the floor.

The staff member looked and saw a man standing near bench before he immediately left the store.

The man is described as light skinned, 30-40 years of age, about 185cm tall, solid build, shaved head, wearing a blue T-shirt, fawn coloured shorts, dark socks and white runners at the time of the incident.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe can assist them with their enquiries.
