Prestige PublishingStirling Times

KARRINYUP Primary School students Harrison and Jesse Hayes challenged their classmates to donate 150 presents to the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal – and they responded.

The brothers delivered 206 wrapped presents to grateful Kmart staff on Monday.

It all started when the Hayes brothers returned from a shopping trip with their mum Deborah Netolicky and asked how they could help children who wouldn’t get a Christmas present this year.

Harrison and Jesse sprung in to action creating a promotional poster that they sent to Karrinyup PS principal Carol Selley, who sent it around to the school community.

The initial target was 150 presents for boys and girls aged 3-15 but in three weeks the school community collected 206 wrapped presents to donate.

“The generosity of the families and community of Karrinyup Primary School is both inspiring and heart-warming” Dr Netolicky said.

“This time of year is difficult for many families and the boys wanted to try and help out those less fortunate than themselves.”

Harrison and Jesse have already set a bigger target for next Christmas.
