Karrinyup shoppers WA’s most fond of hot cross buns according to one supermarket chain

KARRINYUP shoppers purchased the most hot cross buns from a popular supermarket chain in WA last year.

There were 35,440 hot cross buns sold from the Woolworths store at Karrinyup Shopping Centre in 2017, the highest number of any of the chain’s WA stores.

The baked treats were popular in the northern suburbs, with stores at Whitfords City (28,634) and Kingsway (19,967) selling the second and fifth most respectively.

Riverton was third with 24,022 and Rockingham followed with 20,143 hot cross buns sold.

A survey by the supermarket found 74 per cent of Australians prefer their hot cross buns warmed, predominantly via the microwave, and a third of 18 to 24-year-olds will eat their buns whole instead of cut in half.
