CHILDREN with type 1 diabetes enjoyed a day at the beach this month.

Osborne Park’s Telethon Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre organised a fun day out for 36 children at Brighton Beach in Scarborough, where they learned to surf thanks to Perth Go Surf.

The children came from as far away as Mandurah, Moora, Waroona and Geraldton.

The centre holds regular events aimed at connecting families of children with type 1 diabetes and helping to break down the isolation they can feel.
