Lake Gwelup Reserve: hundreds gather to respect their culture for Reconciliation Walk

HUNDREDS gathered at Lake Gwelup Reserve on Friday for the ‘Respect Yourself, Respect your Culture’ Reconciliation Walk.

The crowd enjoyed performances from the Balga Senior High School band and a traditional Noongar dance group.

WADJAK Northside Aboriginal Resource Centre chairman Len Yarran said the word Gwelup meant, “shifting lake” in Noongar language.

The event was presented by the City of Stirling, Healthway, WADJAK Centre and Reconciliation WA.
