THE Karrinyup Shopping Centre redevelopment has made “significant progress”.

A centre spokeswoman said there had been substantial changes at the site since construction started in November, with work focused on the eastern side of the centre.

Construction of the multi-deck carpark continues and a tower crane will be installed at the excavation site of the future east café court.

Pad footings and stair and lift cores are being built for the fashion loop section of the centre and a southeast corner of the project site has been established with amenities including a canteen and break area for construction workers.

The under croft carpark near Big W is being refurbished with electrical, hydraulic and painting upgrades and a parking guidance system, and shoppers may notice works around the Big W mall to allow for construction of a travelator.

The Karrinyup Shopping Centre redevelopment is set to cost $800 million and the first stage is expected to open in late 2019.
