Principal Damien Shuttleworth said the school was without airconditioning, fans, computers and lights.
“The school remained open with a modified program, but all parents were advised of the power loss and many chose to keep students home on Tuesday, perhaps because of the weather conditions,” Mr Shuttleworth said.
A parent of a Carine SHS student, who did not want to be named, claimed power outages had already occurred “three or four” times this year.
Mr Shuttleworth did not confirm how many times the power had gone out but said it was caused by a burnt out circuit breaker.
“While this incident could not have been foreseen, the work was done more quickly than expected and I’m pleased that the school is again fully operational,” he said.
