THE old Scarborough Fair Markets space will be transformed into a celebration of the local community this weekend.

The Livid Back to the Kool Korner event comprises displays by artists and photographers and a day market with more than 40 local vendors.

Livid Skateboards owner Oska Tallis said it was a follow up to the art exhibition held at the site in December and was given the opportunity by owner 3 Oceans, which is proposing to develop the area into a hotel and apartments.

“I organised the event to bring together a bunch of talented people from different fields of photography, art, music and skateboarding. It could be the last time we get to enjoy the space as the site is earmarked for development,” he said.

It will also feature a live art corner, pottery demonstrations, in-house artwork by Perth street artists, evening skateboarding demonstration and competition, and broadcast of the Triple J Hottest 100.

The event is on January 27 from 8am to midnight at 10 Scarborough Beach Road.
