Lotterywest grant gets ball rolling on $7m revamp of ‘barren’ Princess Wallington park in Balga

A $7 MILLION revamp of Balga’s “barren” Princess Wallington Community Parkland has been given the green light, thanks to a $2m grant from Lotterywest.

Stirling councillors voted to progress stage one and two of the plan at last week’s meeting.

Balga ward councillors Keith Sargent and David Boothman welcomed the project.

“Anyone who knows this area will know is barren; this will create a busy hub that Balga desperately needs,” Cr Sargent said.

The City began consulting with the Balga community about the project in 2015 and will contribute nearly $5 million to the project.

The project will include a skate facility including floodlighting, parkour and youth area, multi-courts, dirt BMX and mountain bike facility and a regional playground.
