Man and teen charged for alleged burglaries

A MAN and a teenager have been charged for allegedly stealing a car and using it for burglaries in the Perth metropolitan area.

Police said a Mazda CX5 was stolen from a Balcatta home in early February.

It is alleged the stolen Mazda was linked to burglary, stealing and reckless driving incidents across Alexander Heights, Balcatta, Dianella, Floreat, Gwelup, Haynes, Karrinyup, Stirling and Tuart Hill.

A 20-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with a string of offences, including stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving to escape police pursuit, failing to comply with a direction to stop and possessing drug paraphernalia.

He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates’ Court on March 3.

Police have also charged a 17-year-old boy, with no fixed address, with aggravated home burglary, stealing, trespass, reckless driving, having no authority to drive and possessing a prohibited drug being methylamphetamine.

He is due to appear before the Perth Children’s Court on February 20.
