Police allege the driver failed to stop and evaded police through Balga and Nollamara before heading west along Karrinyup Road in Innaloo.

The driver rammed the police car several times while near the intersection of Muir and Karrinyup before he and a passenger ran from their vehicle.

The driver got into the back seat of a nearby car before police arrested him.

Police have charged a 35-year-old Midvale man with driving with a suspended licence, drug possession, failing to stop, assault intending to prevent arrest, reckless driving and breaching bail.

He will face Perth Magistrates Court today.
