WHAT was he thinking?
A man was caught riding his push bike along Mitchell Freeway this morning.
He was riding north near the Hutton Street overpass in the emergency lane when he was stopped by a motorcycle cop about 8.15am.
A Main Roads spokesman said there had been cyclists and the odd pedestrian on the freeway before but the department did not keep records.
“Obviously, very dangerous,” the spokesman said of riding on the freeway.
It is an offence under the Road Traffic Code to ride a bike on the freeway. The banned list also includes animals and mopeds.
Main Roads did not get any vision of the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet.
Unlike CCTV security cameras, the cameras it uses do not necessarily record vision.
