Man on car theft, burglary charges

A police spokeswoman said about 9.45am officers saw a black Holden Commodore utility allegedly stolen being driven along Mentone Road in Balga.

It is alleged the vehicle was also used during another burglary earlier, she said.

The driver allegedly failed to stop when called upon to do so and drove away in an attempt to evade police.

The vehicle travelled through various suburbs with the police helicopter following the vehicle.

Police officers will further allege that on Alexander Drive the vehicle was deliberately driven into a marked police car, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Three police officers were in the police car at the time.

The driver was apprehended in Maylands after he crashed his car into a member of the publics vehicle, rendering the stolen car inoperable.
