Laura PondStirling Times

A MAN has called police to report that his friend was allegedly chasing him with an axe near the corner of Scarborough Beach Road and Ellen Stirling Boulevard, Innaloo.

The report was made on August 9 about 10.30pm but the accused ran from attending officers and was found hiding in bushland by police dog Nacho.

Police say the 20-year-old Northbridge man tried to run at Nacho and was arrested and taken to Perth watch house, where he then assaulted a police officer.

The victim declined to make a formal complaint but the man was charged with assault and obstruction of a police officer and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on August 19.

Two days later during an unrelated incident, a Scarborough Police officer was also allegedly assaulted after responding to complaints of a man refusing to leave Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough on August 11 at 3.20pm.

The man would not provide his details to police and struggled with officers after they tried to restrain him.

Police allege the Millbridge man (32) grabbed the female officer’s arm and twisted it, causing pain to her wrist, forearm and shoulder.

The man was eventually arrested and charged with assault and obstruction of a police officer, to face court on September 9.
