Man rescued from serious crash charged with meth possession

Mirrabooka Police have charged a man with possessing a traffic-able quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply, following a crash in Balcatta over the weekend.

It will be alleged that about 3pm on August 25, a Nissan Maxima  crashed into a traffic control light at the intersection of Main Street and Wanneroo Road before proceeding onto the incorrect side of the road, heading north on Wanneroo Road.

Shortly after, the Maxima crashed head-on with a silver Honda sedan.

The driver of the Honda, a woman in her 30’s, was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with minor injuries.

A male passenger was conveyed to the Perth Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Maxima, a 26 year old man from Noranda had to be extracted from the vehicle by Department of Fire and Emergency Service personnel before being conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

It is further alleged that upon searching the vehicle, officers located 150 grams of methylamphetamine.

Investigations into the crash are on-going.
