Maylands man (19) charged over house fires in Inglewood and Maylands

A 19-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage for starting two house fires in Inglewood and Maylands that caused more than $100,000 in damage.

About 9.15am on April 5, police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to a house fire on Coode Street, Maylands.

A short time later they were called to a second house fire on Seventh Avenue, Inglewood.

It will be alleged the man entered the houses and set fire to various items within the homes.

The Maylands man has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal damage by fire and one count of damaging property by graffiti.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on May 4.
