Mayor Giovanni returns to City of Stirling

CITY of Stirling Councillor Giovanni Italiano was re-elected as mayor for a second term last night.

Cr Italiano said he was “absolutely thrilled and honoured” to be elected and thanked his fellow councillors, the community and his family for their support.

“I set out in my first term to make some changes and I’m proud to say I have but there is still much to achieve and I’m looking forward to doing this over the next two years with my Council,” Cr Italiano said.

“Development and investor confidence in the City is at an all-time high and I vow to use every tactic to stretch our budget further whilst keeping a high level of services available to our community and continue to keep our rates increases to a minimum.”

Cr Keith Sargent was elected as deputy mayor.

Cr Sargent said he was honoured to take up the role and believed the future was bright for the City.

Stirling chief executive Stuart Jardine said all new and returning elected members were warmly welcomed to the team.

“Challenging and exciting times are ahead for the City and we look forward to the contribution that each elected Councillor will make during their term,” Mr Jardine said.

“Team work is what sets the City of Stirling apart from other local governments and we look forward to that tradition continuing.”
