Medicare-covered MRI scanner now available in Nollamara

Perth Radiological Clinic on the corner of Morley Drive and Wanneroo Road will allow adults and children access to MRI scans funded by Medicare when referred by general practitioner for a range of medical conditions.

Dr Thornton Abbott, co-lead radiologist of the Nollamara clinic, said the MRI scanner could be used for a range of medical conditions including chronic headaches, knee injuries and neck problems for patients aged 16 and over.

“Children also have access to scans for back injuries, neck and back pain and for falls ont o their wrists and elbows when an X-ray may not initially show injuries,” he said.

“Specialist MRI radiologists will be working locally, bringing much needed expertise to the local area.

“MRI scans are very safe as they don’t use X-rays or radiation, which is particularly important for the imaging of children or young adults.”

The first patient will was imaged on June 27.
