Mirrabooka detectives charge trio over ATM thefts

MIRRABOOKA detectives have charged three men with more than 40 offences after an investigation into ATM thefts.

The men allegedly used stolen vehicles and trailers to break into shopping centres in Hocking, Gwelup, Greenwood, Edgewater and Ocean Reef and removed the ATMs.

According to police, the men removed cash from the ATMs before setting the vehicles, trailers and ATMs alight.

A 36-year-old man from Greenwood was charged with a string of offences including stealing motor vehicles, methamphetamine possession, criminal damage by fire and destruction of property.

A 33-year-old man from Clarkson and a 31-year-old man from Aveley were also charged with 15 offences each, including aggravated burglary, stealing a vehicle and destruction of property.

The men appeared in court on November 17 and were remanded in custody.

They will reappear in court tomorrow.
