Mitchell Freeway widening: community to have say on Cedric and Vincent streets project

Laura PondStirling Times

MAIN Roads is seeking community input on the design of the Mitchell Freeway widening from Cedric to Vincent streets.

Nominations are open for the community reference group, which will represent residents and businesses’ interests.

The project involves construction of 7km of additional lane on the freeway southbound, creating a missing link in the principal shared path network between Goody Close and Hutton Street, including grade separation at Scarborough Beach Road and Hutton, as well as the upgrade of rail barriers in the centre of the freeway.

Businesses and community members who are adjacent to the works are encouraged to be part of the reference group.

Criteria includes having lived or operated a business in the area for a significant period of time, understanding and capacity to voice issues, concerns and views of community/business members, and be available for all meetings.

Nominations close on June 11.
