STEPHEN Clarke has once again proved that the best dishes are at his North Beach restaurant.
Clarke’s of North Beach, which is owned by Mr Clarke, recently won the Gold Plate award at the Catering Institute of Australia award.
The head chef said the award was recognition of all the staff, both in the kitchen and front of house.
Restaurant waiter Chad Tilbury was also recognised at the awards, winning the best in service category.
Mr Clarke said the value of wait staff could not be underestimated.
‘It is all very good to have the best food in town but you need the customer service to keep people coming back,’ he said.
While the two awards take pride of place among the series of the other awards won by Mr Clarke, including being named Chef of the Year in 2012, he is focused on his next task in the kitchen- cooking for the Earl of Wessex Prince Edward.
He will be cooking at the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award dinner, King’s of the Kitchen, alongside Chris Taylor (Fraser’s Restaurant’ and Hadleigh Tory (Restaurant Amuse).
