NEWMAN College will be holding an inaugural Family Mass event to kick-start the academic year and celebrate the 200 year bicentenary of Marist education.
The event will acknowledge the international bicentenary of the Institute of the Marist Brothers who have been present in WA since 1913 and in Churchlands since 1965.
Deputy principal Daniel Lynch said the Family Mass would provide an opportunity to gather the school and community together.

Mr Lynch said he expected more than 3000 people to attend the event.
