Nollamara 90-year-old going from Strength to Strength

AGE is not holding back Danny Watkins thanks to an Osborne Park physiotherapy program.

The 90-year-old Nollamara resident attends non-profit organisation Black Swan Health’s Strength to Strength program run by physiotherapists.

Mr Watkins joined after a back operation and within three months had grown 1.2 cm in height because of better posture and had more than 50 per cent improvement in strength in his arms and legs.

“The program has changed my life,” he said.

“It’s not only improving my physical health, but the classes also give me a chance to socialise with other participants and I look forward to seeing my friends at the classes twice a week.”

He recently feel and fractured his hip but had a speedy recovery, which his physiotherapists attributed to his fitness regime.

Within four weeks of the accident he was back using 5kg weights and using exercise equipment.

The program is for people with chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoporosis, chronic heart disease and chronic pain conditions.

Participation is via a GP referral.
