MORE than 8000 people paid their respects to Australian veterans at the North Beach Returned and Services League (RSL) Anzac Day ceremony.
North Beach RSL Secretary Rob Sweet said the Charles Riley Memorial Reserve ceremony attracted a bigger crowd than expected.
“It was a great response from the public and a bigger than expected crowd,” he said.
“The ceremony was followed by a gun fire breakfast at the North Beach Bowling Club.”
Scarborough MLA Liza Harvey and Carine MLA Tony Krsticevic attended the event along with City of Stirling councillors.
Mr Sweet said the large group of veterans who attended were pleased with the service.
“Overall, it was a great day, the weather was exceptional and it was fantastic to see so many people honour Australian’s who have served,” he said.
