READ NOWCitizen Advocacy co-ordinator Dianne Fraser said the organisation relied on volunteers who were linked to people with intellectual disabilities who often had little or no family support.
“They make a long-term voluntary commitment acting as friend, mentor, guide or spokesperson to help a vulnerable person with intellectual disability get more out of life and ensure their life runs smoothly,” she said.
“The circumstances of the person with disability are very carefully matched with the time availability and interests of the citizen advocate.”
