YOUNG musicians can apply for a battle of the bands competition in Osborne Park.

Rock Scholars is running the second annual Scholarpalooza! where young bands and solo artists can take part in all ages gigs in front of large audiences.

Prizes on offer include a $1000 recording and mixing package and live radio appearance.

Rock Scholars owner Sam Simmonds said the competition was about giving young musicians the opportunity to perform on a professional stage in front of a big audience.

“All the judges are drawn from the Perth music scene giving the kids who enter to meet and network with great musical role models,” he said.

“At Rock Scholars we are passionate believers in promoting contemporary music for children and teenagers and we have an awesome group of students in our band program.”

The competition will run over four heats during January and culminate in the grand final on February 3.

Entries are open to youths aged 18 and under at www.rockscholars.com.au until January 10.
