Osborne Park builder Choice Living Homes enters voluntary administration

Laura PondStirling Times

OSBORNE Park builder Choice Living Homes has entered voluntary administration.

Building Commissioner Ken Bowron temporarily suspended its building contractor registration last week because of concerns about its financial position and late yesterday announced it had voluntary agreed to external administration.

Richard Lawrence from Hall Chadwick has been appointed as the administrator of the company, which was trading as Choiceliving WA.

Mr Bowron said this would trigger policies of home indemnity insurance and advised homeowners to contact their insurer to lodge a claim.

“With the company now in administration, I encourage home owners to contact their insurer for advice on making a claim with a view to progressing their projects,” he said.

“Action taken by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety’s Building and Energy Division will continue until the company’s financial position improves to a level acceptable for its registration to be reinstated.”

People covered by a home indemnity insurance policy who have paid deposits but work has not started should contact their insurer, and if defects arise within six years of project completion claims can be lodged with insurers.

Those owed money but the builder, including subcontractors and suppliers, should register as a creditor by calling 6557 6200.
