CONSTRUCTION will start next week to widen the Mitchell Freeway from Cedric to Vincent streets.
The freeway southbound will stay open during works from November 5 but motorists should expect some delays.
During the day, sections of the emergency lane will be closed and there will be reduced speed limits and lane widths.
At night, some freeway lanes will also close.
The $40 million Federal and State funded project will create an additional lane from Cedric to Vincent streets, link the principal shared path network from Glendalough Station to Hutton Street with two underpasses and an overpass, and replace barriers between the railway lane and traffic.
Work is expected to finish late next year.
