The fire occurred at a business called Precision Transmissions.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) spokeswoman said 11 fire crews are at the scene on Ruse Road, near Hutton Street.

She said the single storey-structure is fully involved and there is heavy smoke in the area.

ChemCentre and the Department of Environment and Regulation Pollution Response Unit are providing technical support to DFES as there are thousands of litres of motor oil inside the building.

Ruse Road has been closed and Western Power is at the site.

People living in the area have been warned to remain inside, out of the smoke and fumes, with their doors and windows closed.
