WILDCATS star Greg Hire met with job seekers in Osborne Park today.

The athlete spoke to attendees at The Salvation Army’s Employment Plus job fair about how he has dealt with career setbacks and his interest in supporting youth mental health.

It followed an event in Morley last month that resulted in 15 job seekers gaining employment, 15 attaining interviews and another 20 in active training with employers that attended the fair.

National sales manager David Turnbull said they were hoping for a similar result from the Osborne Park event, which aimed to connect potential employees with employers.

“It’s no secret there’s been some challenges in Perth around unemployment, which inspired us to create this format of more direct interaction between willing candidates and local business,” he said.

“Our events aim to further stimulate the market, and instil greater confidence.

“When we work with candidates, some of which have been out of employment a long time, we provide holistic support across both life challenges and the practical job seeking skills – like fine-tuning a resume, how to present in an interview, and the importance of personal grooming.”

Another event will run in Osborne Park on April 22, call 13 61 23 for details.
