Perth pool opening late for women-only session

Laura PondStirling Times

WOMEN can enjoy swimming in a “social and supportive environment” when the City of Stirling hosts its first female-only swimming session in Balga this weekend.

The suggestion was made by members of the Stirling Multicultural Advisory Network and will give female swimmers access to Leisurepark Balga on Saturday from 7pm to 9pm.

City recreation and leisure services manager Cheyne Cameron said community feedback showed strong interest in the initiative, with the event open to women of all ages and abilities.

“It provides an opportunity for women from all communities to come together in a friendly and social environment,” he said.

“This is a one-off trial activity at this stage.

“Depending on the level of support and attendance, the scheduling of any future sessions will then be considered.”

The facility also offers female-only beginner and advanced swimming lessons and water safety classes during normal opening hours.
