THE Tuart Hill Yokine Scout Group is celebrating its 70th anniversary.
The group will mark the milestone with an afternoon tea at the scout hall on Villiers Street in Yokine on November 10 from 1pm to 4pm.
Group leader Nona Oliver encouraged former youth and adult members to attend and said the festivities had a ‘then and now’ theme, with a modern and historical campsite set up.
She said the group started as Tuart Hill Scout Group in 1949.
“They met in various places until a purpose built hall, built by the scouts, was erected,” she said.
“Osborne Park Scouts merged with Tuart Hill, remaining as Tuart Hill, in the early 1970s and then Yokine joined the group in 1989 to become Tuart Hill Yokine.”
