VEGAN activist ringleader James Warden has again been charged after protesting outside a poultry farm in Perth.
His arrest was videoed by a supporter, who yelled “go James” as he was driven away from Baiada Poultry’s Osborne Park premises in a police van on Thursday night.
Police said a 25-year-old Maylands man was charged with disorderly behaviour in a public place after he allegedly refused a request to move off a roadway used by heavy vehicles, and became argumentative and yelled at officers.
“I fell straight to the ground. I did not try to obstruct police at all,” Warden said in the video, with his hands apparently cuffed behind his back.
“I’m being arrested for disorderly, for acting in my democratic right to protest on public property.”
Warden, who is part of the group Direct Action Everywhere, is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on June 28.
His companions were issued with move-on notices.
