Police charge man over assault on cyclist in Innaloo

POLICE have charged a 30-year-old man from Casuarina over an assault on a cyclist in Innaloo on September 29.

The victim, a 78-year-old man, was cycling south with his wife on the Mitchell Freeway bicycle path when he was allegedly attacked.

The man allegedly hit the victim with a bottle, causing lacerations to his face, before punching and kicking him.

He was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment.

The 30-year-old has been charged with acts or omissions causing bodily harm.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Monday November 20.
