Police hunt arsonists over Perth fires

POLICE are hunting for arsonists responsible for multiple fires deliberately lit in Perth.

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating nine deliberately lit grass trees on Gilmore AvenueĀ near Darius Drive in Calista.

Police said the fires were lit at about 12.30am on Sunday.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or activity, or has dash-cam vision of the area around the fires between 12.05am and 1am.

Meanwhile,Ā several grass trees in Heritage Park on Cartwright Road near Millgate Road in Balga were on fire on the same day.

Officers are also treating the fires, which happened at around 3.40am the same morning, as deliberate.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or activity, or has dash-cam vision of the area around the fires between 3am and 4am.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended both scenes and were able to extinguish the fires in Calista and Balga before they spread to nearby homes.

Callers may remain anonymous if they wish.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
